Who’s Eligible?
Any current ESOL student in a public or private k-12 school in Georgia. Previous recipients of the Georgia TESOL Student of the Year award are not eligible for nomination.
Purpose
The success of ESOL students who overcome language barriers deserves recognition. Georgia TESOL would like to highlight the inspirational life stories of English Learners.

Award to be presented during the award ceremony during the annual Georgia TESOL conference
Two complimentary luncheon tickets for the annual Georgia TESOL conference (for the student and parent/guardian) suspended for 2020
Profile in the GATESOL newsletter
Criteria
Student must be receiving ESOL services in the school year nominated.
A letter of nomination from a GATESOL member describing how the student’s success inspires others should be emailed to grantsandawards@gatesol.org.Include the student’s name in the subject field (example: Juan Doe- Student of the Year).
Review Committee
The Georgia TESOL executive board members will vote in a blind review of all nominations. The nominating teacher and recipient will be notified at the end of September and will be invited to attend the awards recognition ceremony during the Georgia TESOL annual conference in October (suspended for 2020).
