Georgia TESOL is very proud to offer numerous grants and awards to its members!

Did you know that Georgia TESOL Grants & Awards provide a total of nearly $12,000 each year?

With the exception of the Community Support Grant, for which any non-profit organization benefiting the ELL community is eligible to apply, all grants are
exclusively available to
current GATESOL members.

Grants and Awards are given for various endeavors:
  • Projects
  • Professional Development
  • Research

Lela Horne has 21 years of experience in education.  She has taught a variety of subjects in primary/secondary schools, a GED program, and at a technical college.  Lela's dedication to the ESOL field is driven by a desire to help bilingual friends and family members.  She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Southern Mississippi and has been teaching ESOL in Marietta City Schools for 15 years.  Lela has been a member of GATESOL since 2011 and is currently the Chair of the Grants and Awards committee.
