Changing Roles and New GATESOL Leaders 

Karen L. Terrell Ph.D., who was elected to serve a two-year Member-at-Large position at the October 2022 GATESOL Conference,  was unanimously approved at the January GATESOL Board meeting to serve a one-year term as 2nd vice-president for 2023. Dr. Terrell is an English Language Specialist for the U.S. Department of State, an Adjunct Professor at the American College of Education, and the CEO/Owner of the Terrell Educational Foundation. Her research includes mathematics education and content-and-language integration, as well as a genre pedagogy and technology integration for diverse learners. Dr. Terrell has over 22 years of educational experience, including teaching and coaching in secondary schools, consulting for both charter and private schools as well as the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services, and lecturing for over 15 years in higher education.



Mr. Benjamin Bradshaw, Ed. S., has been appointed by GATESOL President, Dr. Elizabeth Webb, to serve a two-year term in the Member-at-Large position left vacant when  Dr. Karen Terrell was named as 2md vice-president. Mr.  Bradshaw teaches ESOL, Dual Language Immersion, and Peer Leaders at Summerour Middle School in Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS). He graduated from the University of Georgia and began teaching Spanish at Jones Middle School in GCPS in 2014. After two years of teaching, he pursued his Masters in Spanish from Middlebury Language Schools  then returned to Gwinnett County Public Schools. In 2020, he graduated with his Ed.S. in Language and Literacy Education from the University of Georgia. 


Ms. Nadreika Morris, M.A., has been appointed by GATESOL President, Dr. Elizabeth Webb, to serve in the Member-at-Large position vacated by Dr. Paula Guy, who was elected to serve a two year term through the end of 2023. Ms. Morris is an ESOL Instructional Coach for Gwinnett County Public Schools where she supports teachers in cultivating an inclusive, supportive, and positive environment where all students feel safe to take risks and are motivated to learn through differentiated instruction. She served previously as a middle school ESOL lead teacher for GCPS for 7 years and has taught English as a Second Language to adults in both the United States and Costa Rica. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of West Georgia and her master’s degree in TESOL and World Language from the University of Georgia. She is committed to minimizing language and cultural barriers to help multilingual learners learn, grow, and become career and college ready.
